Crowd funding revolution

My friend Stephen Gillis is working on this documentary titled Solar Maasai. It’s about bringing solar power to a rural village in Africa.  Like many artists he’s running a ‘crowd funding’ campaign on IndieGoGo. His team hopes to raise $10,000 in order to finish the film.  Websites like IndieGoGo and Kickstarter are helping many innovative and independent artists get their projects made.

Another friend who’s raising money for his art through crowd-funding is Baba Brinkman.  This fall Baba set out the raise 10,000 pounds to produce 10 music videos to go along with his CD and one man show The Rap Guide to Evolution. So far they’ve raised over 8,000.
