Cara Yeates is an award winning actor, writer and producer best known for her one-woman plays. Cara wrote and performed the critically acclaimed solo shows, Knee Deep in Muck and Bye Bye Bombay. She toured across North America with these shows playing in prestigious venues such as The Grand Theatre (London, Ont.), The New York Fringe and at the Shelter Theatre in San Miguel D’Allende Mexico. Each show received ‘Pick of the Fringe’ awards and played to sold-out houses.

In 2008, Cara starred in premiere of Leah Bailly’s solo work, Some Reckless Abandon. The show toured to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Victoria’s UNO Festival, as well as a being part of the elite National Series at Summerworks.

Last year Cara was awarded the first ever Joanna Maratta Award at the Vancouver Fringe Festival. This award celebrates artistic achievement and community leadership. Through this award Cara received a mentorship with Fringe legend TJ Dawe. The two used the mentorship to develop a new solo show written by Brendan McLeod, The Big Oops.

The Big Oops premiered at the Vancouver East Cultural Centers last February as a part of their curator in residence program. In 2010 Cara also played Janine in the Vancouver premiere of the Dora award winning play Scorched.

Cara’s career has also included numerous film projects including Bollywood features in India, as well as TV series and independent films. She is currently the hosting segments for City Lights on Novus Television. Cara co-wrote and produced the viral short film Artless with Kryshan Randel for the The Wrecking Ball Cabaret.
